The National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC),

Department of Science & Technology, Govt of India, New Delhi has been

communicating science to the masses science its inception in 1982.In the

year 1987 the Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha (BJVJ) and the Bharat Jan Gyan

Vigyan Jatha (BJGVJ) in 1992), created short, long and very long term

impact on the science communication scene in the country. It involved a

number of state and local organizations, which formed a network .It is on

the basis of this experience that 2004 has been declared YEAR OF

SCIENTIFIC AWERENESS (YSA). The experience gained during the

previous two large projects would be brought to bear on the YSA-2004

campaign.
